AUDITION CUTS

All audition cuts will be taken from the Band All-State etudes posted on the TMEA website.  Cuts for the region audition will be announced in the audition room on the day of the audition.

Update on Instrumentation and Antiphonal Brass for All-Region Orchestra

Instrumentation for the All-Region Orchestra will be as follows:

1 Piccolo                                4 French Horn

4 Flute                                    3 Trumpet

3 Oboe                                  3 Tenor Trombone

4 Bb Clarinet                          1 Bass Trombone

1 Tenor Saxophone                1 Tuba

2 Bassoon                              5 Percussion

1 Contra Bassoon

In addition to this instrumentation, we will need an additional 10 brass players to perform an antiphonal brass part at the end of the Shostakovitch Festive Overture.  Because we cannot include these brass players in the other pieces for balance reasons, we will take volunteers from the sections after the audition.  We will go down the ranking order for the following instruments until we have filled the parts.  These students will be required to attend only the Saturday morning rehearsal from 9:00 - 11:30 and the performance at 4:00.  The antiphonal instrumentation is as follows:

4 French Horn

3 Trumpet

3 Tenor Trombone

These students will receive a region patch and will have their names listed in the program.

Area Qualification

Any students who wish to be considered for an Area slot through the orchestra division must be on the 5A track.  Any students from a non-5A school, who wish to be considered for an area slot,  must declare 5A track before the audition starts.  Once a student declares the 5A track, they must remain on that track for the rest of the All-State process, even if they do not receive an area slot.

The following are the number of area slots available through the Orchestra Division

Please note that students auditioning on Tenor Saxophone and Contra Bassoon will not be considered for area slots through the orchestra.
